They were basically created in a lab by two women who were determined to cross mate dogs until they could produce one that was not only hypoallergenic, but also had the best traits of any dog in existence. Therefore, this designer dog has a ton of reasons to love it. These include:
Start with the name. These dogs are also known as cobberdog puppies. Originally bred in Australia, they take their name from an Australian word that means friend, pal or mate. Therefore, you know they are going to be friendly and loyal.
Since these dogs were created to be hypoallergenic assistance dogs, not only will these animals not shed all over your home, they are also easy to train and eager to please.
These dogs are also super smart and can be taught to open doors, amongst other things. Like their Labrador relatives, they can be used in police work, as well as therapy and guide dogs. They need to use their minds and bodies daily in order to stay out of trouble. So, be sure to not only give your dog a good run each day, but also teach it something new.
Labradoodle puppies are intuitive and can sense your mood and respond to it. If you need a shoulder to cry on or just a snuggle, these dogs are sure to know and oblige.
They come in a variety of colors and sizes. They are all original and one of a kind, even if they come from the same litter. However, while you cannot carry a miniature labradoodle puppy in your purse, it can sit in your lap comfortably and be groomed to look like it has human features, or to look like a bear or lion.
The amount of grooming that this breed of dogs needs is designed to be minimal. Be sure to brush its coat once a week and ensure that the dogs’ ears are clean and dry, especially after it takes part in its favorite activity, swimming. Like any floppy eared dog, it is prone to ear infections if they are not cared for properly.
Due to the fact that this dog is so friendly and eager to please, they do not make the best watchdogs. Australian cobberdog puppies are more likely to get so excited to meet someone new that they will knock down the would-be robber by jumping on him or her and then the dog will proceed to kiss or lick the would-be burglar until help arrives and they are told to stop.
These dogs also have plenty of star power behind them. With stars like Jennifer Aniston, Tiger Woods, Henry Winkler, Barbara Eden and Lance Bass all owners of Labradoodles, it can be said that Hollywood is not just for dogs that can be carried around. While no dog of this breed has been on a TV show, one has made it to the White House. Vice President Biden brings his labradoodle over to play with the Obama’s dogs whenever possible.
